How I Got Started as a Mobile Bartender 🍸

If you had told me years ago that I’d be running a mobile bartending business, I probably would’ve laughed and kept mixing drinks for my friends in the kitchen. But here I am — founder of Mobile Serves by Nirvs — doing what I love and turning every event into an unforgettable experience.

Before I ever got certified, I was always the “go-to bartender” at family gatherings and friend hangouts. Somehow, I just knew what to mix with what. I could look at what was in front of me and whip up a cocktail that had everyone asking for a second round. Hosting has always been in my blood — planning themes, picking color palettes, and creating a whole vibe was just part of who I was.

In 2019, I finally decided to take things seriously and got my official bartending certification. At the time, I was working full-time as a recruiter and picking up part-time jobs on the side to supplement my income. But the part-time roles were always draining — the hours were demanding and most of the jobs just weren’t a fit. I’d usually end up quitting within a few months. One day it hit me: I know how to make great drinks, I have a knack for creating experiences — why not build something of my own?

I had no idea the pandemic was right around the corner, and when it hit in 2020, it paused everything. The restaurant industry shut down. I always thought bartending would be a back up if I lost my full time job. But that short stint at the restaurant gave me hands-on experience. Learning pours, handling fast-paced crowds, and really understanding the regulations behind the bar.

A year later, in October 2021, Mobile Serves by Nirvs officially launched. My first event? A birthday party at an event hall. I was nervous! But I had my best friend Ness by my side cheering me on. As the night went on, the drinks were flowing, guests kept coming back for more, and tips were pouring in. By the end of the night, I had made more in tips than what I charged for my services. That’s when I knew: I’ve got something here. I need to go all in.

Starting a business hasn’t been without its challenges. Marketing can be expensive, and getting consistent gigs means constantly putting yourself out there — which isn’t always easy. I’ve also been navigating the complex (and frustrating) process of getting a 12C liquor catering license, which has so many rules and tight regulations. And like many entrepreneurs, I’ve had to deal with unreliable help along the way. But I’m not giving up. I know that in time, everything will fall into place.

What’s kept me going is the incredible clients I’ve met. I genuinely feel like I attract the best people. Every event is a vibe because of them. Bartending has also pushed me to come out of my shell and start trusting myself more. As someone who used to avoid risks, owning a business has been the most challenging and rewarding leap I’ve ever taken. My only regret? Not starting sooner.

There are plenty of bartenders you could hire. But if you’re looking for professionalism, attention to detail, and someone who’ll make sure your guests enjoy the experience, I’m your girl. Mobile Serves by Nirvs isn’t just about mixing drinks — it’s about creating memories!

Cheers!

Nirvs
